Pieces of Conversastion Part II

This one took place at work not that many minutes...or rather the comments came by in wisps of a larger one I wanted no part of.

I work in a home health agency where discrimination based on race, gender, class, sexual orientation and/or religion is a big no-no. Well, let me tell you what happens when they're all getting their shit together at the office:

Carpet muncher was just thrown around, another co-worker (who I have quickly learned to talk to about work stuff only) commented on the fact the patient had been hit by a car when trying to get to the local gay bar, stating the person should have run her over as she has no tolerance for that sort of thing, has said if her son was in any way effeminate or gay, she would disown him and so on.

The co-worker who commiserates with me said something to the above lady, saying she was nasty and I have said she isn't supposed to show open disdain for a population of people when she is to treat everyone equally while on company time, but she (hates gay people lady) apologized for nothing. She also throws the word retarded around like its going out of style so either we're going to have to have a one-on-one chat or my boss and I will, which could end up being worse for HGPL in the long run.

But really, would any of them appreciate being discriminated against for their skin color or how about if heterosexuality was outlawed and homosexuality was the norm? Flip the script and see how fast people backtrack, such as with a woman's right to privacy eh?

This open disdain for a population of people who are oppressed enough, then having a member from an equally oppressed culture inflict the same process of discrimination on someone else does not sit well with me.
